Led by local performer, Graham Banks, this weekly after-school club focuses on improving pupils’ self-esteem, confidence and coordination. Pupils learn to use a variety of circus equipment such as the stilts, juggling balls and spinning plates. Over the course of the sessions, pupils are given the opportunity to specialise in a particular activity. These newly acquired skills are showcased in an end of course finale in front of the school. |

Local artist Jed Brignal offers an exciting and dynamic approach to sculpture in these weekly after-school sessions. Pupils are involved in practical work using a variety of different art materials. Building self-confidence and communication skills, individual creativity is encouraged and rewarded. A trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park is also offered to pupils taking part; this is a unique opportunity to experience sculpture in the natural landscape.

Engineers of Nottingham
This weekly after-school club provides a fun and relaxed environment for pupils to learn about engineering and construction using K’Nex kit. Run in conjunction with the University of Nottingham, students from the University support the sessions in a volunteer capacity.

Fit Kids
Designed to promote healthy living in a non-competitive environment, Fun and Active sessions are run after school. Sessions include a variety of activities such as warm-ups, relay, team, tag and chasing games. The sessions are designed to improve individual fitness levels, as well as communication and coordination skills.

Gradbach
Set in the heart of the Peak District, Gradbach Youth Hostel hosts this residential weekend for city schools. Pupils take part in a range of confidence-building and challenging activities, which include orienteering, mountain biking and indoor climbing. Bringing local schools together, the trip encourages pupils to forge inter-school friendships, paving the way for transition from primary to secondary school.

Galleries of Justice
These weekly after-school sessions are run at the Galleries of Justice. Pupils are introduced to justice, citizenship and the law through a variety of activities. Classroom-based activities form part of the sessions, and are designed to improve literacy and numerical ability. At the end of term, parents, carers and teachers are invited to a graduation ceremony where pupils are presented with a folder of their work. |

Colwick Park
Based at Colwick Park’s new adventure centre, pupils are given the opportunity to participate in a range of outdoor activities and water sports, including kayaking, sailing and windsurfing. The sessions are designed to supplement existing physical education provision in schools, as well as incorporating other elements such as environmental education and outdoor education.
