The Study Support team is part of the Curriculum Service within the Education Department. We are responsible for the support and development of all study support and out of hours activities across the City of Nottingham .
Study Support covers a wide range of learning activities outside normal lesson time in which young people participate voluntarily. This includes activities such as homework and study class, sport and outdoor activities, creative arts, Culture Plus Community Learning Centres (supplementary schools) Playing for Success Study Centres and any activity previously designated as out of hours learning. In order to bring this vast range of opportunities and activities under our umbrella we shall, following DfES guidance be using the generic term Study Support.
In the last six months alone we have supported a Summer School for over 300 pupils from the Big Wood and Bulwell EAZs
Organised Study support projects based around circus skills, horse riding, engineering, sculpture and drama at various primary and secondary schools. Supported a number of secondary schools to achieve the Quality in Study Support Kite mark, organised an activity weekend nr Buxton for 60 pupils in partnership with SHOE, undertaken an audit to ascertain current Study Support provision across the City of Nottingham and kept schools up to date with local and national developments in study support through e mailed news letters.
