This was a bright idea round about September when Cath Barker, Sports Development Manager at the National Ice Centre and Alistair got together! She then saw the Costume Cabaret in October and was sufficiently impressed/confident that we could put up a reasonable show on the Nottingham Arena stage, so much so that most of our programme from that event went on to the ice and the stage for this. 5,500 school children and their teachers came to the free matinee on the last day of term Friday December 20, 2002. A further 1500 came to the evening performance and it has to be the biggest audience that NYT, as a group, has played to in such a short time! - (apart from, perhaps, the STV programme in '94 still being shown on cable around the world!) Singing, Dancing, with the Brassery on top form, together with Nottingham Skate School, compered by Shona Markham and Amit Kapila, it was another interesting event for all concerned. Helen Davies and Adrian Eyre's decorations from HP:Saucer and even going back to Freefall, all came in handy to help transform this huge arena. It was also a good experience for our technical crew who were taken on by the arena as fellow crew members.
