Almost the last show at the famous Commodore International and certainly the last Big Band Event to be held there before it was demolished. For many years the Commodore had been the home of big band in nottingham with Maynard Ferguson in the 70's amongst 100's of other famous bands. A high stage with a low roof, but a great raked club/restaurant-style auditorium with a good acoustic. Just what we don't have any more in the city! July 3rd 2002 and almost a full house, saw Phil Smith and the Brassery on top form with Brassroots not very far behind. A good blend of up-tempo and downbeat arrangements, many from the pen of Ben Lee who besides leading the 'Roots has also become the resident arranger for the big band.
