Performances on 9-14 September at 7.30pm, with matinee performances on 11, 12, 13 and 14 September at 1 .30pm . The annual musical at The Sandfield Theatre. Performed by Nottingham Youth Theatre (NYT) and The Brassery, this large scale production is the latest following successful shows in recent years, most notably West Side Story in 2001. It's Britain in 1956 and everything is changing. The music is changing, the dancing is changing and the world is changing. Set in a ballroom somewhere in Britain, Mockingbird Hill looks at all those changes from the point of view of the people involved. Mick, Leslie and Dave have been called up into the army to go to Cyprus and deal with the EOKA rising and the Suez crisis. They are counting the days and their chances with the girls. Their parents did their bit in the Second World War and prefer to forget with Two-way Family Favourites on the wireless. Nottingham playwright Nick Wood, with a national and international reputation, has written this fast moving play with a ton of live music especially for Nottingham Youth Theatre and The Brassery. With a host of characters and action it is an excellent vehicle for Secondary school- age performers and we are proud to have commissioned and be the first to perform this world premiere.
